Amen!

Can I get an 'Amen!'? How about a 'Hallelujah!'? Or maybe even just an exasperated 'Well, it's about time.' from all the ladies in the house?

It's finally here. The Male Pill. There are so many reasons that this is a good thing.

For one, it will let men have some control over fertility. No more 'Oops, I forgot to take my pill, guess you'll have to marry me.' All of these workaphobic, manipulative women will lose their power. Less children will grow up in broken homes. I think that this aspect will be great for society and the well-being of the next generation.

Something else that makes this so wonderful is the effect it will have on women's health. Birth control really messes with a woman's body. Increased risk of blood clots, hormonal fluxuations, sexual dysfunction, unhealthy weight gain, possible infertility, severe depression, and anxiety attacks are just some of the side effects that get mumbled under the breath when Doc writes the Rx. It's about time Modern Medicine came out with a medical alternative to the Pill.

I think it is also great because it puts some of the responsibilty on the man. It takes two to create life, but women get the blame when it happens accidentally. Now men will have no excuse. No more 'That #$#@% tricked me! I'm not paying child support... blah blah blah.' Men will have to take responsibilty for their own actions and the role that they play in conception.

While this could lead to more infidelities, more VD transmissions, and other negative things; I still think it is wonderful. People that are going to do things they shouldn't will do them whether or not they have less of a chance of reprecussions.

In conclusion.... AMEN!

Fark Headline responds.... Women should stop drinking and smoking, because they may be "pre-pregnant". Lose the shoes, too. Here's a nice oven

So....now what?

I don't think the two issues conflict. It IS important for a woman of childbearing age that does not abstain to be prepared for the fact that any sexual encounter could result in pregnancy.
The article you mentioned Here has some very valid ideas about women's health and prenatal health.

Would you invite a guest to stay in your home without cleaning it first? No. Isn't it also a good idea to keep the house clean if there is a possibility that a guest will show up in the near future?

Any time there is heterosexual intercourse, there is still a possibility of conceiving. A woman should be aware of this. This is why I rarely drink and do not smoke. If it was just my body I was worried about, I wouldn't care so much. But one day I will share every cell, every nutrient, and every toxin that I have with someone else.

But. That does not mean that I want to share them now. And if the man can help make sure that we don't have any unwanted children, I'm all for it- for the reasons I stated in the blog.

So... now what? :-P

One more thing- it's not just the woman's responsibility to remain healthy. Men in relationships with women of childbearing age should also be mindful of their health. As shown here: Dads and birth defects

In conclusion of my tirade, I think it's important for Everyone to take care of their health, regardless of the lifestyle they live. (How's that for nursey?).

I am still a big condom fan regardless of the pill, I hope this won't encourage unprotected sex! I hope everyone especially teens understand there are lot more deadly reasons to use a condom besides getting pregnant but I do think it is a great product for people in a faithful commited relationship.

"The pill, a single dose taken a few hours before having sex, affects contraction of the muscles that control ejaculation, but wouldn't interfere with performance or orgasm sensation, researchers at King's College London say. The result is a dry ejaculation."

Dry ejaculation? hmmmmmmmm, I guess women also have some other non-messy reasons to celebrate for besides unwanted pregnancies Eryn!

Condoms are a great thing and they are the right choice for many, many people. But the more choices a person has, in regards to birth control or anything else, the more likely that person will find a solution that works for them.
